The Unfinished Phrase is a mobile, networked, interactive storytelling game meant to inspire and catalyse the act of writing. The app is based on the age old concept of Exquisite Corpse. The outcomes of the game are narratives structured into short blocks of text, with each block written by a different author. The best narratives are chosen through a process of natural selection, whereby readers are given the opportunity to vote for their favourite stories. The app encourages people to view the act of writing in a more fun, detached way, overcoming the dread spectre of writer’s block through simple game-play as well as providing an opportunity for emerging writers to be present their work and be reviewed by their peers.
